The Scottish Renal Registry

A-Z of SRR Projects

The SRR Reports publish data about all patients with established renal failure (ERF) receiving renal replacement therapy (RRT) in Scotland.

The SRR performs an annual census of patients receiving dialysis in Scotland in May of each year. The census provides data relating to anthropometry, blood pressure, bone mineral metabolism biochemistry, haemodialysis adequacy, haemoglobin and vascular access for haemodialysis.

A survey of renal units staffing and facilities has been performed in August every second year since 2007. Several other surveys and analyses of SRR data are also conducted on a non-recurring basis.

Blood Borne Virus Audit

Background and Aims: The Department of Health Good Practice Guidelines for Renal Dialysis/Transplantation Units “Prevention and Control of Blood borne Virus Infection” was introduced in September 2002.

An audit tool based on those guidelines was developed and used to audit BBV practices in all renal units in Scotland.  The middle two weeks in January 2006 were chosen as the census dates.
Project lead: Dr Ilona Shilliday
